independence day.

Happy 4th of July! This shot is from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's June 30th celebration (why not the 4th?). I wanted a different type of shot, something that looked weird, like fireworks in the daytime even though it was 9-something-p.m. So I set my camera to f/3.5 at a 4s shutter speed, carefully steadied my camera on my tummy, held my breath, and shot (should've taken  tripod, but I appreciate the "sit super still" skill). Anyway, for those of you who don't get it, thanks for looking and HAPPY 4TH of JULY! :)

megan & richard: engaged!

So a couple months ago, I got an e-mail from a dear family friend and old babysitter asking me to do her engagement photos. I was so excited, I didn't even have to think twice. I knew I would LOVE to shoot their portraits! Megan and Richard met during graduate school at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, V.A. After being friends for awhile, decided they should date, which of course led to Richard proposing to Megan, because honestly, who couldn't love Megan?

Jerry and I headed up on Memorial Day weekend to have a fun and crazy late afternoon and evening shoot in Norfolk. We shot at Megan and Richard's old apartment (the coolest apartment ever) in downtown Norfolk and then strolled through the historical neighborhood and waterfront for some extra shots! Megan and Richard are a fun-loving couple and absolutely perfect for one another and these pictures definitely show it!

I love this shallow depth of field, but I love even more you can see Megan's smile through it.

I love the way Richard is looking at Megan in this photograph. So candid and so loving!

I absolutely love this moment and Megan's laugh! The whole shoot was full of smiles, laughter and goofy dancing.

Momma knows best! These windows were fabulous to shoot with!

I had too many favorites to pick from! Hope you enjoyed them all!
